If you would like your baby or child baptised, you will be required to attend a two-session course in order to learn about the implications of this Sacrament. When you have attended the course, arrangements will be made for Fr Paul to meet you, complete the necessary paperwork, and agree a date for the baptism to take place. Please be aware that this process generally requires approximately 6 weeks from our receipt of the initial request for baptism. Contact the Parish Office for further information.

Emergency Baptism
Anyone may baptise in the case of danger of death. Water should be poured three times onto the forehead of the individual as these words are spoken:

“I baptise you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit”

The baptism must be registered at the local parish as soon as possible after the event.

Baptism Certificates:
If you need a copy of a baptism certificate for yourself or your child, and you know or believe that the person for whom you want the certificate was baptised at the Sacred Heart Church, St. Ives, or (up to January, 2007) at St. Francis Church, Papworth, please write to the Parish Office specifying the full name, date of birth, and approximate date of baptism (month and year) of the individual for whom you need the certificate, and enclosing a stamped, self-addressed envelope. We will send you back an authenticated copy of the certificate.
