Use this form to search for pages on this site which contain one or more specific words. The search engine will display a list of links, with links to the pages with the most occurrences of the words you are searching for shown first. If the page has a title this will be shown, otherwise only its file name will be displayed. The search engine unfortunately does not directly support searching for a phrase or sentence in the text. A search for "Religious Education", for example, will find pages containing either of the two words. A description of how to formulate more complex searches is to be found below, along with some examples.
The text search engine allows more complex searches to be carried out by linking the individual words you are searching for with the connectors AND, OR, and NOT, and optionally by grouping search phrases with parentheses. It also allows the use of the "*" wildcard character at the end of a word to find (e.g.) plural and other forms of the word. For example:
- religious education
- finds documents containing 'religious' or 'education'
- religious or education
- same as above
- religious and education
- finds documents containing both 'religious' and 'education'
- education not child*
- finds documents containing 'education' but not 'child', 'children', etc.
- (infant and baptism) or RCIA
- finds documents containing either 'RCIA' or both 'infant' and 'baptism'.
